Privacy policy

What data we collect and why we collect it

We are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected and we shall endeavour to use any information that you provide when using this website in accordance with this privacy policy.

This privacy policy explains what information we collect, how we protect any information you submit to us, and how we use it.

What information do we collect?

Personal information may be collected from you in various ways, for example:

  • Information about your computer and about your visits to and use of this website (these are information about your browser, your IP address, your general location as determined from your IP address and provided by your browser, the site from which you come, and the links followed when leaving our site). This information is also collected through cookies
  • When you voluntarily provide information in forms and comments fields (this potentially includes your name, email address, and any other details asked for and which you provide).

How is the information used?

We use this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:

  • For statistical purposes and analysis for management purposes in order to administer the website or improve our products and services.
  • From time to time, we may also use your information to contact you for market research purposes or to customise the website according to your interests.

Your information will not be disclosed to any third party unless you have given your consent to such disclosure.

If you would like us to destroy information we hold about you, please let us know. However, please note that if you use any of our services which require you to provide personal information, deleting our records may mean that you will need to resubmit it to continue using such services.

Cookies

This site uses cookies – small text files that are placed on your machine to help the site provide a better user experience. In general, cookies are used to retain user preferences, store information for things like shopping carts, and provide anonymised tracking data to third party applications like Google Analytics.

As a rule, cookies will make your browsing experience better. However, you may delete, or disable cookies. Please note that you may not be able to take full advantage of a website if you disable cookies. The most effective way to do this is to disable cookies in your browser. We suggest consulting the Help section of your browser or taking a look at the About Cookies website which offers guidance for all modern browsers.

On Tesla Checklists, if you enter text into any form, cookies are used to retain this text for the next time you use the website. These cookies are removed once the form is submitted, or after 60 days.

Cookies are also used to save your checklist’s checked checkboxes, so you can come back to the checklist many times and see the same state. These are removed after 30 days.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Social Media

If you share our content through social media, for example by liking us on Facebook, following or tweeting about us on Twitter, or giving us a ‘+1’ via Google Plus, those social networks will record that you have done so and may set a cookie for this purpose.

In some cases, where a page on our website includes content from a social network, such as a Twitter feed, or Facebook comments box, those services may set a cookie even where you do not click a button.  As is the case for all cookies, we cannot access those set by social networks, just as those social networks cannot access cookies we set ourselves.

Analytics

Our website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). The information generated by the cookie about your use of our website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of our website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google’s behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google.  Further information about Google’s privacy policy may be obtained from http://www.google.com/privacy.html.

Who we share your data with

Your data is not deliberately shared for any marketing or other business reasons. Some anonymous data may be shared with the servers of third party website plugins in order for them to function. For example, form contents may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Changes

We may make changes to this privacy policy from time to time. If we change our privacy policy we will post the changes on this page. If the change in our privacy policy affects the use of your personal information we will use our best endeavours to contact you by email to seek your consent to the use.  Continued use of the service will signify that you agree to any such changes

Your acceptance of this privacy policy

If you do not agree to this privacy policy, please do not use our site. By using our site, you consent to the collection and use of information by us. Owing to the global nature of the internet infrastructure, the information you provide may be transferred in transit to countries outside the European Economic Area that do not have similar protections in place regarding your data and its use as set out in this policy. However, we have taken the steps outlined above to try to improve the security of your information. By submitting your information you consent to these transfers.

About

This website is personally created and maintained by Andrew Lilley, a User Experience Designer and happy Model X owner.

My goal is to make it easy to find and use Tesla delivery checklists, and to help current and future owners at all other stages.

Much of the model-specific delivery checklists originate from various posts in Tesla Motors Club forums. Tesla Checklists is updated via input from my visitors, and by me monitoring the forums.

Many thanks to everyone who has contributed here via the feedback forms. Happy driving!
